Krabi is a province blessed with diverse tourism resources and one of Thailand’s tourist destinations of the highest potential, as an ancient human settlement dating back to the pre-historic era and developed into one of the 12 settlement cities on the zodiac. Residents lead their simple lives close to nature long before Krabi was discovered as a leading tourism town, with the most numerous miracle attraction in Thailand.
The coastline of Krabi is made up of towering limestone mountain ranges, making up uniquely distinctive geographical features, wrought with uncountable caves, some mentioned as the most beautiful cave of Asia, such as Tham Khlang in Ao luk District, for instance. Moreover, Krabi is rich in forest resource, covered mostly with tropical rainforest. Phanom Bencha Hill, the loftiest hilltop in the Phuket Mountain Range, rises prominently close to the city. It has long served as the origin of streams and rivers that have long nurtured lives of Krabi residents.
Moreover, the entire coast of Krabi is lined with abundant mangrove forest covering a vast area of about 40,000 acres, as the nursery of marine life, and a food and energy source of the people. It has been cited as one of the world’s most important Ramsar sites, as well as a major coastal fishing area.
Yonder in the open sea, Krabi is famed for its richness of marine life for deep sea fishing. The beauty of seascape and the world famous Phi Phi Island, as well as the natural wonder of Divided Sea, an Unseen Thailand site that has become famous around the world, including the famed dive sites of Hin Muang and Hin Daeng, among the world’s top ten sites, plus uncountable isles and islets that make up marine attractions such as Mu Ko Lanta, Ko Ngai, Ko Rok, Ko Hong, Ko Po Da and Ko Kai. There are also several newly discovered sites waiting for adventurous tourists to search for their favorite hidden treasures.
From a survey to find 50 miracle attractions of Krabi under the project of Miracle Krabi Launched in early 2016, it was found that Krabi kept its numerous secret natural sites away from visitors’ eyes, some virtually unknown or little known, Tham Nong Thung Na, Tham Phet, Karos Devill’s Cliff, Laem Karos, Pha Khom, and Laem Sak, for example. Some sites are well known, but with new perspectives to search for, such as the Divided Sea, with the secret of tens of thousands of flying foxes that fill the evening sky every day, the watershed area of Tha Pom Khlong Song Nam, and Sa Morakot-the Emerald Pond a turquoise pond in the deep jungle, and several lookouts for setting sun over the Andaman Sea, for instance.
Thus, the Route to Miracle Krabi Project came about, with the aim to take tourists along the 9 main tourism routes in Krabi, featuring Miracle Krabi sites as highlights, and also other attractions on the routes, although not included in the 50 Miracle Krabi Sites, are worth visiting, complete with eating places with delicacies for you to sample.
